Botox and Dermal Fillers in NYC: Natural, Refreshed Results
By Sarah Walner, PA-C, lead injector at WiserMD. Medically reviewed by Dr. Itay Wiser, October 2026.
At WiserMD, we offer facial injection treatments designed to enhance your natural features and help you achieve your aesthetic goals. Our personalized approach focuses on subtle, balanced results tailored to your unique needs.
Botox and the other neuromodulators (Dysport and Daxxify) relax the small muscles that crease the skin with expression, softening frown lines, forehead lines and crow's feet for a few months at a time. Dermal fillers restore volume where the face has lost it. Both are injected by Sarah Walner, PA-C, the practice's lead injector, with a conservative approach: softened lines and restored contour, with normal expression.

Botox, Dysport and Daxxify compared
All three contain botulinum toxin type A and work the same way. Botox is the most established and FDA-approved for frown lines, forehead lines and crow's feet. Dysport spreads a little more, which some injectors prefer for broad areas like the forehead, and may start working slightly sooner. Daxxify is formulated to last longer in some patients. Sarah chooses by area, your history with each product and how long you want between visits.
Units and what they cost
Neuromodulators are priced per unit, and the number of units depends on the area and the strength of your muscles: frown lines, forehead lines and crow's feet each take a typical range, and a first treatment is often conservative so it can be adjusted at the two-week follow-up. The Botox and filler cost in NYC guide explains how the number is built and what to compare between practices; the practice gives a written estimate at the consultation.
Dermal fillers
Where neuromodulators relax, fillers restore. Hyaluronic acid fillers add volume to the lips, cheeks, jawline, temples and under the eyes, and soften folds around the mouth. They are often combined with Botox in one visit. The dermal fillers in NYC page covers products, areas and longevity, and Botox vs fillers explains how to tell which you need.
Sarah's approach
The practice's philosophy for surgery applies to injectables: results that look like you, rested. In practice that means conservative dosing, placement planned for your anatomy instead of a template, a two-week follow-up to refine, and a willingness to say when a treatment will not help. A trained plastic surgeon injecting is also the right person to recognize when a concern needs something other than an injectable.
Treatment day, downtime and results
A neuromodulator appointment takes about fifteen minutes. Expect small bumps for an hour and possibly a bruise for a few days; avoid rubbing the area and strenuous exercise that day. Results begin within a few days, reach full effect at about two weeks, and wear off gradually over the following months. The FDA's Botox Cosmetic summary describes the approved uses and common side effects. Results and how long they last vary by patient, area and product.

Questions patients ask about Botox and fillers
What is the difference between Botox, Dysport and Daxxify?
All three are botulinum toxin products that relax the muscles making expression lines. They differ in how they spread, how quickly they take effect and how long they last; Daxxify is formulated to last longer for some patients. Sarah chooses based on the area, your history and your goals.
How many units of Botox will I need?
It depends on the area and your muscle strength. Frown lines, forehead lines and crow's feet each take a typical range, and a first treatment is often conservative so the result can be adjusted at a follow-up. The pricing guide explains how units translate into cost.
Will I look frozen?
Not with conservative dosing placed for your anatomy. The goal is softened lines with normal expression. Sarah prefers to under-treat at a first visit and add at the follow-up than to over-treat.
When will I see results and how long do they last?
Neuromodulators begin working within a few days and reach full effect in about two weeks, then gradually wear off over the following months. Results and how long they last vary by patient, area and product.
Is Botox safe?
Botox Cosmetic is FDA-approved for several facial lines and has decades of use. Side effects are usually mild and temporary (bruising, a headache); rarely, a brow or eyelid can droop for a few weeks if product spreads. Choosing an injector trained in facial anatomy reduces that risk.
Can I combine Botox and fillers in one visit?
Yes, and many patients do: a neuromodulator for expression lines and filler for volume in the same appointment.
