Dr Itay Wiser

How a Virtual Plastic Surgery Consultation Works

A virtual consultation is a private video call with Dr. Itay Wiser in which he reviews photographs you have uploaded, listens to what you want to change, explains which procedures fit and what to expect, and answers your questions. It is free, it takes about thirty minutes, and it leaves you with a written estimate and a clear next step. An in-person visit follows before surgery for examination and measurements, and follow-ups after surgery are in person.

Before the call: what to photograph

  1. Use good natural light against a plain wall; no filters.
  2. Stand with arms relaxed at your sides; take front, left, right and, for body procedures, back views.
  3. For breast procedures, photograph in a plain bra or as the guide instructs; for abdomen and body, in fitted clothing or underwear.
  4. Upload through the secure link the practice sends; do not email photographs.
  5. If you have relevant imaging, prior surgical records or an insurance card, have them ready.

During the call: what to ask

  • Which procedure, or combination, fits what I want, and why?
  • Am I ready now, or is there a step first (weight stability, nutrition, medication timing)?
  • What will the scars look like, and where?
  • What is recovery like for my procedure, and when could I return to work and exercise?
  • May insurance apply to any part of this, and what would the file need?
  • What will the estimate include?

After the call

The coordinator sends a written, all-inclusive estimate and, where coverage may apply, starts the insurance check described in the New York insurance guide. If you decide to proceed, an in-person visit is booked for examination, measurements and pre-operative planning; surgery day and follow-ups are in person. If you are preparing for surgery after weight loss, the preparing for plastic surgery guide explains what comes first.

Who the virtual consultation suits

Patients who want a first conversation without travel or childcare, patients from Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island, New Jersey and further away, patients who prefer privacy, and anyone who wants to know whether a procedure is right before committing to a visit.

Questions patients ask

Is a virtual consultation as good as an in-person one?

For a first conversation, yes: Dr. Wiser reviews your photographs and goals, explains which procedures fit and what to expect, and answers your questions. An in-person visit follows for examination and measurements before surgery is scheduled, and follow-ups after surgery are in person.

What photographs do I need?

Front, both sides and, for body procedures, the back, in good natural light against a plain wall, arms relaxed, in fitted clothing or as instructed. The practice sends a secure upload link with a short guide.

Is it private?

Yes. Photographs are uploaded through a secure link, the call is private, and nothing identifies the procedure in your calendar or email beyond what you choose.

Does it cost anything?

No. The virtual consultation is free.

What happens after the call?

The coordinator sends a written estimate and, where coverage may apply, starts the insurance check. If you decide to proceed, an in-person visit is booked for examination and planning.
